Agassiz Village

Virtual Summer Program (AV 2.0)

A different kind of camp,
for a different kind of summer.

It is with a heavy heart that we've come to the very difficult decision that Agassiz's 2020 Residential Summer Camp program will be cancelled. We simply cannot risk the health and safety of our campers, staff and surrounding community posed by COVID-19. We understand that many families are facing childcare challenges and are seeking experiences for their children in the midst of this ‘new normal’.

Agassiz Village has therefore committed to offer three, 2-week virtual camp session, from July 6 – August 14, 2020. The staff will include the Camp Director, the Director of Teens and SEL (Social Emotional Learning), as well as counselors that campers may already know and love. Agassiz aims to offer 4 hours of engaging programs each day via an online platform. There will be no fees associated with the program and we will refund or roll over any tuition costs you've already paid for the summer of 2021.

We appreciate your understanding in the decision to cancel in-person programming and pivot to AV 2.0 this year. Agassiz aims to play an important role in your child’s life, and we will continue to work hard to provide, fun, engaging and friend filled experiences this summer. It will look different, and it will feel different, but we will continue to push the positivity of camp online.

What are the dates and times for the online summer camp programs?

Agassiz Village will aim to provide 4 and a half hours of fun and engaging activities between 9.30am-8.30pm. Monday through Friday. Session dates are as follows:

  • Session 1: Mon, Jul 6 to Fri, Jul 17

  • Session 2: Mon, Jul 20 to Fri, Jul 31

  • Session 3: Mon, Aug 3 to Fri, Aug 14

What will be the content of the online summer programs?

The team is developing age-appropriate, fun, and highly engaging content. Offerings will include arts & crafts, physical fitness, cooking tutorials, virtual campfires, dance and camp song sing-alongs. Children will be grouped by age for some activities; our teen campers are also encouraged to join our teen workshops where we will cover topics on Diversity, Gossip, Public Speaking, Trust and Creativity, as well as many more workshops to engage and expand the minds of our youth.

What does a daily schedule look like?

9:30am-10am – During this time, we will have breakfast together and talk about the day's upcoming schedule. It will be an open and free place for campers to connect with staff and other campers and talk about anything and everything they would like to. Sometimes, it’s just nice to talk to someone, and this is the perfect time to do so. This will also provide some normality for our campers.

12:30pm-1:30pm – Everyday there will be an afternoon workout. With many kids now being unable to exercise at school or at local recreational centers, this could be the only time campers workout at all. There will be a mix of workouts each day ranging from body weight workouts, CrossFit, Zumba, Yoga, Pilates, boxercise and cardio workouts.

2:30pm-3:30pm/3:30pm-4:30pm – During this time we will offer a different daily activity, from book clubs, arts & crafts, movie afternoons, food based activities, dance lessons, survival skills, and drama activities. A time for campers to learn a new skill or develop their current skills whilst keeping engaged and having fun in the process.

7:30pm-8:30pm – Evening campfires which will be a wrap up of the day, including a summary of the thoughts and feelings of the campers. It will also be a great time to play a game that even families at home can get involved in. Each night can also have a different theme e.g. pajama party, sports attire.

What can my camper take part in?

Campers can take part in whatever parts of the day they want to, join us for breakfast and not join again until the evening campfire, sure! Join us for just the daily workouts, that’s fine too! Just be on time to the sessions and we are happy to cater to the group. The campers aged 14-17 will also have Teen Workshops that they are encouraged to attend. This will allow them to share ideas, discuss topics, challenge themselves and others, as well as building leadership and teamwork skills in the process.
