Programs
Overnight Camp
Established in
1935, Agassiz Village camp introduced the beauty of the outdoors to
children from the city of Boston. Our program has expanded to
included participants from all over New England, and offers programs for
ages 8-17, with a special Teen Leadership program for our older campers.
Our camp is located on beautiful Thompson Lake in Poland, Maine. Our facilities allow for campers to experience the outdoors,
with 400 acres of outdoor beauty, full of hiking trails, playing
fields, camp sites, a mile of waterfront on a clean, crystal clear
lake, while still having on-site medical care at our new Health Center and wholesome meals served daily in our extraordinary
Dining Hall. For more details on daily activities, the Teen Leadership
Program, 2008 dates, and more, click here for more info
and to register online, or

application.
Sports Camp
Through a collaboration with Malden Catholic High School, Sports Camp is
offered to boys, ages 11-15, as a way to began to learn more about a
specific sport and be in the best shape for your upcoming sport season,
as well as introduce new sports to those interested in trying them out.
MC Coaches lead morning sessions, and after lunch, participants are
transported to Wilmington's 180 Fitness and Sports facility, where
athletes learn how to best prepare for their sport, with sport specific
fitness and health routines. For dates, coaches' names, details,
to register online or for more information, click here or go right to the
Sports Camp application. Participants can sign up for a
full day, which includes the fitness training in the afternoon, or they
can register for just the morning schedule.
Special Sports Sessions
ICE HOCKEY: Malden Catholic coaches continue
to instill sports values and skills on the ice as well, with a special
week long camp session for Ice Hockey, held at Kasabuski Rink in Saugus.
Sessions are held each day for 2 hours per day, with a session for boys
ages 9-11, and a session for boys ages 12-15. Click here for
more information on Ice Hockey Session and Sports Camp and to
register online or go
right to the
Sports Camp application.
GOLF: Golf lessons are offered as part of
Sports Camp. Participants practice swings, club use, etiquette,
and more. They begin at the Malden Catholic facility each day, and
will be transported to various sites throughout the week, such as Cedar
Glen and Mt. Hood golf courses and local driving ranges. This
group does not go to the 180 Fitness and Sports complex as other Sports
Camps do, as they spend every sunny day out swinging! For more
details or to register online on Golf Session and Sports Camp, click here or go
right to the
Sports Camp application. Golf is a full
day program; there is not a "half day" option.
Day Camp
Agassiz Village offers day camp programs at three
different sites. At Malden Catholic High School, a sports based
day camp is offered to boys and girls, ages 8-13, with use of all MC
outstanding sports facilities. Activities include lacrosse, golf,
baseball and softball, track & field, flag football, basketball, soccer,
tennis, recreational sports and games, and more. If your child is
interested in more outdoor adventure and recreational activities, the we
recommend Camp Nihan day camp, a collaboration with Massachusetts
Department of Conservation and Recreation, a beautiful 100 acre property
in Saugus, MA. Activities include swimming, fishing, canoeing,
paddle boating, hiking, outdoor sports and games, and much more.
Campers who register for their specific site stay there for the day.
We also offer Day Camp at our Maine facility, where campers can swim,
play, and learn at our 400 acre property in Poland, ME.
Participants for Day Camp programs can choose a full day
8am-4pm or choose the half day program, in which campers can stay for
the morning activities, from 8am-12noon, or the afternoon schedule, from
12noon-4pm. Lunch is not included in the half day program.
To register online or to learn more about Day Camp, click here or go right to
the Day Camp application.
Partnerships
Agassiz Village strives to provide a diverse camping experience. One way we achieve this is through our partnership with Easter Seals of Massachusetts. Our work with this agency allows disabled youngsters the chance to enjoy typical summer camp activities side-by-side with able-bodied campers. We are the only camp in New England that provides this
type of inclusive experience.
Malden Catholic High School’s program is sports focused by making full
use of MC’s top-notch athletic fields and coaches.
Week long Sports Camp sessions include ice hockey, golf, lacrosse,
football, baseball, soccer, and basketball. Day Camp offers a fun,
sports-based program that includes recreational sports and games. Both camps encourage leadership, cooperation, sportsmanship, teamwork, and community building.
The DCR has provided Agassiz Village with a fantastic opportunity.
Day Camp at Camp Nihan is an outdoor advemnture, recreation based
program, that allows our campers to get a taste of AV
activities, introducing our mission and programs to children, ages 8-13,
thus encouraging them to not just grow during the summer months, but
consider trying our overnight camp as well.
With Camp Nihan’s beautiful lake and nature trails, the program has a traditional camp atmosphere.
Campers participate in outdoor education and adventure, such as
swimming, fishing, canoeing, sailing, hiking, orienteering, as well as
many traditional day camp activities, such as recreational games and
sports, arts & crafts, and more.
