WELCOME BACK ALUMNI CAMPERS!!

We are so excited that you found us again! We hope you will continue to stay connected with us and share in the memories and fun summers you had at Agassiz Village.

We are gearing up for another great summer at AV starting with the addition of our new, year-round Camp Director Thomas Semeta. Thomas comes to us from Camp Homeward Bound serving New York City homeless youth. He is excited to bring some great new programs and activities to AV.

We are proud to say that we will triple the number of campers attending camp for the 2011 summer season. We expect over 900 campers from the Boston area and throughout New England to join us for a summer of fun! New this year is the addition of CAMP POSTCARD for at-risk 5th & 6th graders from throughout Maine. They will spend a week at AV camp in mid-June under the guidance of over 75 volunteer counselors from the Maine State Troopers Association and Volunteers of America.

We are also introducing a new two-week Teen Leadership Program and four-week Staff-in-Training Program for our 14 to 17 year old campers. Check out this link to learn more. http://www.agassizvillage.org/h/overnightcamp2012.asp

Although the current economic conditions slowed our progress over the past several years, we are back on track with facility maintenance projects. Last year, we invested over $100,000 dollars to upgrade the waterfront, place new roofs on cabins and upgrade and repair cabin porches. We plan to invest another $100,000 this year to continue cabin roof replacements, improve the laundry facilities and update several staff cabins.

Of course, there is more to be done! We are currently looking for funding to pave a multi-use play area over the tennis courts, create a sand volleyball court and convert the carousel gazebo into a Ga Ga ball court (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ga-ga). We are also in need of significant funding to finish phase II of the waterfront upgrade.

Imagine this: If every AV alumni donated $10 to the camp this year, we would be able to fund these projects and much more! Follow the link to our online donation page if you are interested.
